Birds, Scenic, Trees

Mount Cheam is a landmark of the Fraser Valley Region city of Chilliwack – about 2 hours drive from downtown Vancouver.  My wife and I plan to do some hiking up there amongst the wild flowers this summer before we get too old.       I had already taken some shots of Cheam when these geese flew into range – this is best of several shots.

I actually took this photo for a friend of mine who loves mechanical gadgets, but it ended up as a bit of a self-portrait … with all those lights in my head, I would caption it “Lights are on but nobody’s home!” As we entered this antique shop in Fort Langley,BC., we discovered  more of these unique “Industrial Age Lamps”  Tomorrow, I will post some photos of them.

Eagle Encounter

Uncategorized

My wife and I recently encountered this eagle swooping past us with a rather decomposed salmon in its talons. It landed on a nearby tree branch and fortunately I had my camera ready for action. I  didn’t think this was a bald eagle, but found out later that it was an “immature bald eagle” – it takes them 4 years to get the classic white head look. Btw – it took me 40 years to achieve the same look! Their wing span is 80 inches – a little wider than I can stretch my arms. Click on an image for larger view.

Car Sandwich

Not sure why this was commissioned for Vancouver commuters or how much it cost the city, but it’s pretty funny! I bet the tree never envisioned a future like this – supporting the auto industry. Btw – Everyone knows that we are in an earthquake zone …
